Job Introduction
As part of the most radical change in a regional newsroom in a generation, a rare opportunity has arisen to join the senior editorial team of the Newcastle Chronicle and Journal in Newcastle.

Main Responsibilities
As Editor (Agenda, Business and Entertainment), you will be responsible for the areas of content which will make us stand out from our rivals online, leading teams of writers who provide the most in-depth coverage of issues and subjects which will make us turn-to websites on a daily basis.

Reporting to the Editor-in-chief, you will also be the title editor of The Journal, one of the most famous brands in regional journalism.

You’ll be responsible for our Agenda team of writers, who are tasked with owning their subject area and setting the agenda for content in that area. You will make sure those subject areas are developed in the right way digitally, driving visitors to our websites and conversations on social media.

Business is another area which is of critical importance to us. We want The Journal website to be the turn-to place for business people from all sectors and size of companies on a daily basis. We are beefing up our business team and giving them a new digital focus, and you will be responsible for setting the priorities for this team.

Entertainments is another critical area, with a highly-specialised team focusing on brilliant content for our What’s On section on Chroniclelive.co.uk and the respected Culture section on thejournal.co.uk. We need to build audiences on both sections, and you will be responsible for ensuring we are producing the right content, for the right audiences, on the right platforms.

This role also brings with it responsibility for the development of The Journal brand in print and online. The Journal is one of the great brands in regional journalism, trusted and admired in equal measure by the North East’s most influential people. We need someone who can develop the brand for the digital age while keeping it true to its beliefs.

The Ideal Candidate
This is a wide-ranging and challenging role for someone who believes in the digital future and can demonstrate the senior editorial experience and digital knowledge to develop key content areas across all of our titles.

Job Introduction
As part of the most radical change to a regional newsroom in living memory, NCJ Media is looking for an expert in digital sport to join our business in Newcastle.

The role of Editor (Football, Fan Engagement and Sports Development) is critical to the new newsroom, working as part of a team of four editors running our Newcastle operation on a daily basis.

Main Responsibilities
Reporting to the Editor-in-chief, you’ll be responsible for setting the tone of our sports coverage online, with a particular focus on Newcastle United.

You’ll also focus on new apps specifically for sports content, and develop ways to get fans more involved in what we do - so they’re talking about us, too.
You’ll appreciate the importance of social and SEO, and have bags of ideas to ensure we remain number one for sports coverage in the North East.

It doesn’t take a genius to work out how important football coverage is to a website like chroniclelive.co.uk … but it’ll take a very special leader to take on the role of Newcastle United Editor for us!

Main Responsibilities
As part of the most radical change to a newsroom in a generation, we’ve created a Newcastle United Editor role, and the person who takes it on will be tasked with making sure we get even bigger audiences to our content online, and keep those audiences on our websites longer.

You’ll be a constant fountain of ideas for how we can improve our NUFC coverage, and will be comfortable appearing as an expert for our brands both on our own publishing platforms and external media.

And, of course, you’ll work to enhance the Chronicle’s reputation as the authoritative source of independent news and analysis on Newcastle United.

Job Introduction
We are recruiting a Digital Producer to join the late breaking news team in our digital newsrooms.
